Snowman

This was my first attempt at drawing the snowman, we were told that we didn't need to do all the in-betweens yet and so I can see that the movement is still very jerky. I tried to adjust my snowman but I still didn't know the software very well and I couldn't find out how to correct it.
This is my final snowman, I found it hard to keep the same shape as he moved. I tried to get the timing right and added more frames when he begins to pick up the ball.

Thin Character

Just as I had done for my fat character I thought of other thin characters, my main inspiration was 'the other mother' from the film Coraline. I started to think of my character in simple shapes which I then developed.

I made a turnaround of my character and just as I had done with my fat character I had drawn her in blue pencil first and then gone over in a HB pencil.

I found it quite hard to animate this character because her legs were extremely long, I tried to get a secondary motion by making her skirt move up and down when she walked.

Fat Character

I made a list of characteristics I wanted my fat character to have, I thought of other fat characters that I could remember and started to draw my fat character.
I then did a turnaround of the character, first I drew him in a light blue pencil so that when I got it right I could draw over it in a normal pencil.

I then tried to make my character walk, I wanted him to be exaggerated and jolly as he walked. It was quite hard animating his legs as they were very small in comparison to his body.

Bear Turn

We had to use Flipbook for this project, I enjoy using this software, even though it doesn't have as many options and tools as flash when drawing I felt like I had more control over it than I do in flash.

Walk Cycle

We were then told to animate a walk cycle, I placed five circles at the top and five underneath them, this was so I could see where the head and body would have to move when I drew them. I used five key frames and then in-betweened them. I see that the body slides across the floor instead of properly walking.

Head Turns

When set to animate a head turn I first tried to do a very stylised character head, I started by drawing the three keyframes and then began to draw the in-betweens however I found this incredibly hard as I had included too much detail and wasn't focusing on the motion and the anatomy enough.

I then drew a simple head with basic facial details, I had him simply turning from left to right and I found that this animation worked best.

After getting the basic head turn right I began to experiment with different characters, I tried to animate a robot spinning out of control which worked to an extent but i still find the previous animation to work better.

Then reverting back to my simple character design I tried a different head turn, one where the character begins to look downwards. I found this hard as the perspective of the head kept changing.

Boucing ball (Egg)

This was my more imaginative animation, I wanted to try and think outside the box. Our tutor had told us that a previous student had used a balloon that floated off the edge of a cliff so I decided to try and animate an egg smashing. It does go to slow and turns around too many times but i think that it holds its shape as it falls.

Bouncing Ball (football)

This was my first time using flash, I found it very hard to get used too. We were told to be imaginative so I decided to have the ball bounce of into the distance, looking back on it I can see faults in it. The timing is off and there needs to be more squash and stretch but overall with the splash and perspective element I think it worked quite well.
